Resource Transfers

Our Resource Transfer service is available to organisations who are looking to transfer their Internet Resources (such as IP Addresses or ASN numbers) to another organisation.

The service is intended for organisations that have their IP resources sponsored by either LIR SERVICES or another LIRs that is not familiar with the process and RIPE policies surrounding resource transfers or refuses to collaborate in arranging such resource transfer.

We fully support resource transfers due to:

  • a merger or acquisition
  • individually negotiated sale and purchase transactions

Sponsored by another LIR

If another LIR currently sponsors your resources, we would need to arrange a change of sponsor to LIR SERVICES before we can initiate the resource transfer process. This service includes the following benefits:

  • Change of Sponsor to LIR SERVICES
  • Audit and cleanup of obsolete RIPE DB object before the transfer
  • Preparation and submission of the Resource Transfer form to RIPE
  • We can also optionally become a resource sponsor for the receiving organisation if such service is required.

Sponsored by LIR SERVICES

If LIR SERVICES already sponsors your resources, the process is much simpler. In this case, our service includes the following benefits:
  • Audit and cleanup of obsolete RIPE DB object before the transfer
  • Preparation and submission of the Resource Transfer form to RIPE
  • We can also optionally become a resource sponsor for the receiving organisation if such service is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Change of LIR sponsor and transfer of IP resources are two separate things.

To prevent Internet Resource hijacks, only the sponsoring LIR can initiate the resource transfer on behalf of your organisation.

Think of it as another layer of protection to keep your transaction secure.

For the Change of LIR Sponsor, RIPE will require a certificate of incorporation or recent extract from the business register for your company. RIPE will also require that you sign the LIR Sponsorship agreement with us.

For the Resource Transfer, both offering and receiving party would need to provide the company registration documents issued within the last three months. The company directors or other authorised persons will also need to sign the transfer agreement. 

Occasionally RIPE may require the ID documents for the signing parties, to ensure that the signatures are theirs.

We will prepare all the paperwork.

Please expect one week for the IP Resource transfer if LIR SERVICES is already your LIR sponsor, otherwise, please budget another two weeks to complete the change of sponsor process.

The fee applies to individual transfer agreement, so if you are transferring multiple resources to the same receiving party, then we will charge you only once.

However, if you are transferring multiple resources to different receiving parties, this would require separate transfer agreements, for each receiving party and we will charge you for each transfer agreement.

This service is intended for organisations who already found a buyer, but their current sponsoring LIR isn’t familiar with RIPE policies and procedures or refused to callaborate.

However, if you are looking to sell your IPs, and don’t have a buyer arranged, please get in touch, and we will be happy to make you an offer.
